A point charge q is located at the center of a cube of edge
A point charge q is located at the center of a cube of edge length d. Make a drawing. Find the electric flux through one face of the cube. The charge is now moved to one corner of the cube the exact corner (i.ee. neither in or out of the cube). What is the electric flux through each face of the cube now?
Solution
From guass law
Total flux through n enclosed surface = q/epsilon
So since cube is at the centre and Symmetrical, Flux through single face = q/(6*eplsilon)
Consider an imaginary situation where the cube is situated at a centre of bigger cube and flux to be determined through area which is 1/4th of the total,
So flux will be (1/4)*q/(6*epsilon) throough three faces opposite each and other 3 faces , it is zero
