a cotton ball and glass marble are each launched horizontall

a cotton ball and glass marble are each launched horizontally from the edge of a table. They are launched with the same speed and fall to the floor. The marble mass is about 100x the mass of cotton ball . The cotton ball diameter is about 2x that of the marble. Height of table is 1 meter above floor. Predict where each object would hit the floor . Clearly explain assumptions you made as well as forces

Solution

if there would be no atmosphere the force acting on both the material is same that is only the gravitational force will act on both the bodies so the mass of object compared to earth is very small so both the object will hit the ground at the same time. here i had consiredered two assumptions the first one is that there is no atmosphere and the second one is mass of the objects is negligble as compared to the mass of earth so the mass will not affect the time of hiting the ground in any way. now the force acting here is only one that is gravitational force so no other force will affect the motion or the velocity of both the objects that is cotton ball and glass marbel.
