explain

A thin, square, conducting plate 43.0 am on a side lies in the xy plane. A total charge of 4.10 x 10 c is placed on the plate. You may assume the charge density is uniform. (a) Find the charge density on each face of the plate. 217 e-7 x what is the definition of surface charge density? C/m2 (b) Find the electric field just above the plate. 25044.21 What the equation for the electric field due to a uniform surface charge? N/c direction (c) Find the electric field just below the plate. NIC magnitude direction downward Need Help?

Solution

a) Charge density = charge/Area =4.1e-8/(0.43)^2 =2.217e-7 C/m^2

on each face = 2.217e-7/4 = 5.54e-8 C/m^2

b) E = /E0 = 5.54e-8C/ 2 × (0.43m)^2 × 8.85 × 10^12= 1.69 × 104 N/C,
