Excel columns mismatch

I have a spreeadsheet that I use as a contact manager. I have several columns with one being a notes field that has Dates aand Numbers and text and when I sort by \"Next Call\" or Client ID it mismatches the notes field with the record.

So for instaance if Field A1 = Client and A3 = Notes when I sort, the A3 field may become associated with B1 or C1, etc...!!!

Solution

By default, XL will sort on whatever cells (columns, rows) you have selected, unless you have only a single cell selected, in which case it will expand the region until it finds a blank row or column (i.e., the \"current region\").

If you have a selection which encompasses only a portion of the current region, then XL, again by default, asks you if you want tto expand the region to include the adjacent cells.

If you have blank rows or columns thaat you want to include in your sort, you need to make sure they are selected when you srort.
