How does the high heat capacity of water help move heat around the earth’s
surface?
Solution
Water is a combination of hydrogen and oxygen. When the water is hot then the hydrogen will become separated and this will make the water molecules to move like free. This will help in the distribution of heat through out the water body. Higher temperature will stay on the surface and some amount of temperature will go to the bottom.
So when the water is heated, then the heat circulates up and down. As the earth is covered with water , the hot water will move towards cold area and this will take the heat with it and cools down there. This is usually convectional process.
This the heat circulation is carried by water on the earth.
