Solution

CRANIOTOMY :

Craniotomy is a surgical procedure which involves removal of a bone flap from the skull which helps in entering the brain for treatment and diagnostic purpose.

Providing a correct body position post surgery is very important when it comes to neurological surgery. A proper and a correct position plays a vital role in recovery from the surgery.

As the procedure was a craniotomy with an infratentorial incision which is found below the tentorium cerebelli.

Generally, for neurological surgery a semi fowler\'s position is recommended but as the procedure include infratentorial incision the patient is positioned in side lateral position with some cushions or pillow supporting his back and between the two legs to avoid any friction.

This position not only restraints the surgical area but also promotes airway circulation and promotes drainage of secretion.
