A Carnot Heat Engine is to be used to represent the complex Rankine Reheat-Regenerative Cycle below, where the maximum temperature is 600oC and the condenser pressure is 10kPa. What is TL? What is the Carnot efficiency?

T_L   is the saturation temperature at 10 kPa = 45.8 C   (from steam tables)

T_H   is the highest temperature   = 600 C

Therefore Carnot efficiency is given by = 1 - T_L / T _H

                                                         =   1 - (273.15 + 45.8) / (600 +273.15)

                                                         = 63.4713 %
