Question 5 15 other contains an equal You have two perfectly

Question 5: [1.5 other contains an equal You have two perfectly insulated cups. One contains water and the volume of another liquid that has half the density water and twice the specific heat capacity. You heat the water from 10°C to 20°C and the other liquid from 8ooc to 9ooc. Compare the amount of heat energy needed to raise the temperature of the other liquid to the amount needed the temperature of the water. Explain how you got your answer using either formulas or words

Solution

here

Heat Q = msDT

where m is mass

s is sp heat

DT is change of temperature

so

for water, Density = mass/Volume

mass of Water mw = D1V1 = DV

mass of liquid mL = D2V2 = DV/2 (given in Question)

DT of water = (20-10) = 10 deg C

DT of liquid = (90-80) = 10 deg C

Sp heat of water = S

Sp heat of liquid = S/2 (given in Question)

Qw/QL = [(DV) * S * 10)]/[(DV/2) * 2S * 10)

QW/QL =   1 (answer)
